The Barista Championship is the discipline that celebrates the preparation of espresso and coffee-based drinks, emphasising technique, creativity and hospitality. Participants present a combination of espressos, milk drinks and signature drinks to the judges, demonstrating knowledge, consistency and an authentic connection to the coffee they have chosen.
The jury evaluates technical, sensory and communication criteria. Flavour, balance, presentation and the way the barista shares his vision of the coffee are valued.

From Monday to Thursday you'll find Porto Coffee Week events all over the city, with workshops taking place in coffee shops, restaurants and schools.
Finally, between Friday and Sunday, the country's biggest coffee festival takes you to the Coffee MarketThe largest coffee market, where you can taste speciality coffees, attend lectures, championships and much more.
Porto Coffee Week is designed not only for coffee professionals - producers, importers, entrepreneurs, roasters and baristas - but also for the end consumer, with talks and competitions for all levels of coffee knowledge.
A coffee festival for everyone.
Porto Coffee Week has international speakers and participants from all over the world, so this year Porto Coffee Week will take place mainly in English.
However, some speakers may not be comfortable, so some talks and workshops will be given in Portuguese.
At every event we will always have staff are available to help you translate if you have language difficulties and want to take part.
So check the language you'll be guided in at each event and, if you have any questions, get in touch with us.
Yes, our photographers will be identified, as well as any press who may attend.
By buying tickets for Porto Coffee Week you are agreeing to be photographed and filmed within the framework of the events, as well as allowing us to use your image to publicise the event in the future.
As you understand, we want to protect the integrity of the festival, our speakers and exhibitors. Therefore, if you intend to photograph or film parts of the event, we ask that you exercise common sense and abide by some basic rules.
Although you may photograph or film during Porto Coffee Week for personal use, you may not sell any photos or videos of the festival. Please respect the privacy of other participants who may not wish to be filmed or photographed.
The safety of children is very important to us, so images or voices of children used online will not identify the child unless we have permission from the child's carers to do so.
The Coffee Market is completely accessible to people with reduced mobility and wheelchairs, however we can't guarantee access to all the workshops for people with reduced mobility, as the various spaces where they will take place may not be accessible. So if you need assistance, please contact us.
This year's Coffee Market will have exhibitors from all areas of coffee, from speciality coffee micro-roasters to professional espresso equipment.
All roasters will be provided with coffee and coffee drinks with Alpro Barista plant-based beverages (cappuccinos, flat whites or similar).
Try as many coffees as you like, you can repeat the roasts and try all the coffees available.
Of course! Above all, Porto Coffee Week is a community event. So children up to the age of 14 are welcome and don't pay for a ticket as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult.
What's more, all the toasters will be able to make vegetable drink babyccinos for the children and we'll have a surprise for the little ones!
We'll have hand-picked street food restaurants where you can buy food throughout the day.
In line with our sustainability objectives, we will only have vegetarian or vegan options available. Help us have a more sustainable coffee festival.
Although we love our four-legged friends, due to space restrictions we will not be able to accept dogs at Porto Coffee Week 2025 events, including the Coffee Market, except for guide dogs.
